Great thread! Take it to the to Top!

Wannabe1

By far the best thread I ever started! Unfortunately, I never got to fulfill my dream of taking an animal with my bows but, such is life. Thank you all for sharing your trophies!

I'll peak back at the end of this season to see some new stuff!   :bigsmyl:

This is an excellent thread.

It has boosted my confidence in my little #45.

Thank you all for posting  great pix.

I hope to add my pictures to this thread this fall.  I've only killed at 50lbs with a longbow and a recurve...Decided to start over and rebuild my shooting foundation this last year and got myself a 40lb longbow.  The model I got is only 3fps slower than my 50lb longbow shooting the same arrows, and I had no problem blowing through deer...I can't see 3fps having any change on that.

Friends call me Pac

4 years ago I built my own bow with the help of a buddy. I call it "Pac-a-Whallop" It is 44#.

3 years ago I shot a small doe with my bow.  Wood arrows & 165gr Ace Express.  20 yard shot and the arrow came out the offside by about 12".  40 yard recovery.

Last year I got this 8 point with the same bow.  20 yard shot.  Same wood arrow/broadhead combo as with the doe.  100 yard recovery.  The arrow passed through but did not fall out until he fell. The arrow was beside the deer where he fell & was good to hunt with again after washing it off & sharpening.

Good for you Pac.     I imagine there's nothing quite like taking a game animal with a bow you built yourself. Would love to make one myself but facilities are limited.

Some great harvests here and I agree with the many whom have said that this is a great thread!  Congrats to all!
Here are a few "light bow" harvests from Pennsylvania...

Brothers buck from 11/1/14, State Forest Land, mid 1970's White Wing, 36lb @ 28", near pass through...
  [/IMG]

Dad's buck from 10/30/14.  Mike Treadway 47lb @ 27"...
[/IMG]

My buck from 10/25/14, State Forest Land, 66" Border Black Douglas 46lb @ 28".  Complete pass through and stuck in ground 2 inches...
  [/IMG]
These above were all "First Traditional harvests" for my family and I since we started this wonderful sport.

And last year...
Dad's buck from 11/2/15...same setup as above...
  [/IMG]

And my buck from 11/12/15, State Forest Land, 66" Border Black Douglas, 41@28" (hunted with the light limbs).  9 yard shot and near pass through...

He's right at 160". 13 points, but he doesn't have a lot of length up front...not that I cared! He's a gladiator...cataract over his left eye.
Here's the thread with details and more pics:

I love this thread as a 40-45 pound shooter.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
