Thanks for all the good wishes and advice. Been one week now and I'm pecking away here left handed...

Rotator tear was larger than expected but Doc sez the Kevlar will hold...unless I do something stupid the next 2 months. Still in quite a bit of discomfort and pain, especially after working on these home exercises to increase my range of motion. Wife said she never knew I could yell so loud.

Wet heat to loosen up the shoulder prior to exercising, then ice packs to keep swelling down. Apptment March 7th with Doc, then it's on to PT for 8 weeks. How fast I recover is up to me and the effort I put in rehabing. Trust me, I have a good work ethic and attitude and plan on shooting my bows come October.

I was just relaxing in the shop enjoying a cigar when my longbow and recurve started shaking from the rack.....they are getting anxious too...    :scared:

Hope you have a speedy recovery.  I can't imagine not shooting an arrow for months.  Stick around...as long as you're rehabing you might as well spend time among friends.

It's a long process and most of the time there will be lasting problems of some sort, but you definitely should be able to shoot your bow again. I can even shoot fairly heavy bows, but not without some degree of pain. Best wishes for a quick recovery. You will probably be back to shooting fine by deer season, as long as you don't try to go up in weight too quickly.

Hang in there on the re-hab Joe.  I had a total knee replacement October 2 (hunting season shot to ####), but worked my tail off and I am way past where the Doc thought I would be.  All well worth it now.  Good luck!

You'll be healed up and hunting before ya' know it Joe. Just listen to the therapist and don't push too hard and too fast. When you get the urge to do something you shouldn't take a break with a stogie  or gin (or both)   :goldtooth:

Best wishes to you Joe, I had mine done seven years ago, Follow the phisacal therapy to a tee and you will be smoking a cigar and making them shaking bows smoke a arrow to your target.  :archer2:  Don

Glad to hear.  I am sure your left handed typing will improve rapidly!  Keep at teh rehab, bujt don't push it.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
