I just spoke with the hospital desk nurse on Dave's floor - he's still receiving pain meds and is unable to receive phone calls.  Per hospital privacy rules, my conversation with this nurse indicates it appears to be basic end-of-life hospice care.

Thank you, Rob.
Be thinking my own thoughts, now.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

     Thanks so much Rob for checking in on Doc and letting us know .

Doc was the great "prayer warrior" of TG...I wish my friend Godspeed to his Homecoming! He and the Prayer Concern forum were the main reasons I return here.  I met him only once when my company sent me to Lancaster Pa. about ten years ago and we had dinner one evening.  He will be sorely missed.

Thanks Rob.  When I tried today, the phone just rang and rang.  I was hoping to speak with his friend and Pastor from Pa, to give him well wishes from us all here.
I pray for his ascension so that is pain may end, and that he may be welcomed into the loving eternal Kingdom of our Lord.

Doc,
   I had a dream last night you came here and gave us an update and I was like but you are in comfort care and it was like you were saying "Good Bye" to us all.
   I then woke up and it was time to go to work this morning but I know you are heavily medicated and waiting for Jesus .
     "Just  continue to Keep the Son in your Eyes our friend" and know we miss you so much already.... :pray:

I missed this, and will miss Dave in future ones. The locust reminds us that special things come once in a great while. It would be too weird if Dave and I had shared seventeen Trad Classics there, and one can waste a lifetime counting things.

I just know that one should count to One, This One, and enjoy it as if it is the only one. I have been fortunate to count many days spent in the woods, sunrises, mists in the river bottoms, wonderful places made special by light, temperature, rains and people.

It is the temporariness of these things that make them special, and priceless.
Thank you, Doc, for the wonder and light that you have brought to so many, just by being you, and the individuality of your thoughts. You have a big heart, and I will carry you with me as a treasure found.

Godspeed, and God keep you, in His infinite love forever.
Kathy
