Lin, you are one of my favorite makers, this is another great example of your exceptional work.  I realize how difficult it is to develop and define your own style.  In a sea of makers you have a recognizable and notable style.

I like that you forge your stainless guards, but caps, etc.

I really enjoyed seeing you and your work at the Blade Show, very robust and powerful blades!

Lin, what size steel do you buy to end up with a big blade like that?

Thanks for the generous comments guys.

Steve, I started with some bar steel from Aldo Bruno about .340 X 1-1/2. As you mentioned, I like hefty blades but not in excess, in my opinion. I forged it to thickness since it has the forged finish on top and sides. It's about 5/16 at the ricasso. Forging it to two inches wide takes concentrating your directional blows into the width, then bump the ricasso up some if need be.

My shop is lean on machinery and heavy on forging to shape. That's why I got into the habit of forging my stainless. Necessity has shaped my methods to a degree. It's bound to affect the over all look and feel of the work as a body.

I wish you'd make a calendar with pictures of your knives every month. I could look at your knives everyday all year long.

Thanks

I just got my sheath in.
