Is that for when the bow blows up in your hands and you need to clean up the "mess"???  :scared:

Oh yah almost forgot. Did the heat bend on the other tip.I'll take off the clamps in the morning.I bent the limbs 3 1/2" from the tip and raised the tip 1 1/2".

Thanks Jawge, but I'm not really sure it will make a bow.   :bigsmyl:

Here is a pic of the new profile.

3 1/4" of reflex total.

Sheba is a little camera shy this mornin. She makes sure I keep the floor clean.Dang dog likes chewing on osage curlings.Sure glad she don't swallow.Just spits them out and grabs another.

The far limb has slightly more reflex so that will be the lower limb if all else goes well.

Killdeer

Wow! If she goes, it will not be with a whimper...
I sure hope she makes it. It will be a pretty bend.

My doggy's name was Sheba, too. Came with the name and a collar from the pound.

I remember the pics of Sheba. She was a beautiful little gal.

You're right Killie,if this one goes it will go big time.I'm thinking about backing it with rawhide.Going to keep the belly pretty flat but it has a good amount of crown in some areas.I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If it survives tillering I expect it to take a few inches of set.

I decided to go bareback and takes my chances. I had some time to work on it this morning.Got it to floor tiller and on the tree.

Here I have 8-9" of string movement.

Notice that the limb on the left has more reflex coming off the handle and also has a substantial amount of twist for close to 1/2 the limb length.

Man oh man, that thing is spring loaded. Should have plenty of early draw weight.

How did I miss this thread earlier? The bunch of C clamps hanging on the pipe wrench gave me a good laugh - looks like something I'd do, but not take a picture of.

Check Timo's thread on take down self bow for some tips on how to protect yourself during test shooting.

Lookin good Linc, that baby oughta have some kinda profile      :D

Thanks guys.I put on a scale and got 46# at the end of 8" of longstring movement so that would be about the poundage at 5" brace height.I got a short string on her but she needs a little heat treatment.LOL.Need to move the snakey tip over 1/2" or so to get the string to track center of the handle. It's in the clamps cooling right now but it looked like the right limb is a little stiff at brace.

More to come later.   :bigsmyl:

Actually this is going pretty smoothly so far but the tough stuff is still to come.Only have to get the string to move another 20+ ".  :knothead:  You get to try everything that you wanted to try but didn't cuz ya didn't want to ruin a good stave.

Linc

I moved the tip over 1/2" but wasn't quite enough.Moved it another 1/4" and was too much.LOL.I should back it off 1/8" but I'm going to let it be till the bow is worked some more.It will probably move back on it's own.Braced profile looks a little funky but measures pretty decent.Braced at 3 1/2".
