I could never reconcile, "Ignorance is bliss" and the employment advice, "Follow your bliss". Follow your ignorance?

Anyway, nice looking stick there Linc. The bottom limb looks a little flat in the 3-4 square of your pictures. Then again I may be "following my ignorance".

WARNING,WARNING!!!!! When working on a bow, don't come home and rush to get to working on the bow wanna be.

39#@26" 5"brace.

Turned around.

6" brace 45#@28".

Made a big mistake in not waiting till this weekend when I could have taken my time to try and finess the tiller.I did not put back on the tree and mark the areas that I had to work on.I should have known better.Took off wood in an area I shouldn't then had to play catch up.

At one point I heard a tick but upon inspection I couldn't find any splinter or crack or nuttin.So I kept plugging away.

BIG SURPRISE. She is s-m-o-o-t-h and shoots pretty good.Minimal hand shock.Seems to be pretty consistantly accurate (at least at 7 yds)LOL.

Missed poundage a little but I have room to tweek out a few more pounds by shortening.Then again I don't know if I want to mess with a good thing.

Dano,I thought I would learn from my own.LOL.

Actually,I lost sight of my intentions when I started this project.I wanted the reflex off the handle and I also wanted to get deflexed outer limbs.That's just what I've got.Reflex to store energy.Deflex (or set) to ease in stringing and less strain on the limbs at brace for long periods.

I was looking to get 50-52# but 45# ain't all that bad. :rolleyes:

It isn't a speed demon but throws a pretty good arrow.I haven't tried with a heavy arrow but I think it will do fine.

Looks like a pretty good job to me Linc. I've heard more than once here that if you have a good thing, don't mess with it, move onto the next project. That little bit of advice has served me well more than once.

Just couldn't leave well enough alone.I toasted the belly yesterday.I will let it set and rehydrate a few days and we'll see what happens.Hopefully I didn't burn the toast.LOL.This is my first attempt at toasting and not really sure what I'm doing.

Sorry it has been so long since the last instalment.

I toasted the belly and let set a few days. It didn't recover any wait but it did get some relex back.It also took out some of the twist.The string tracks off center but makes it closer to a center shot bow.S-m-o-o-t-h drawing. Almost as sweet to shoot as Whatchamacallit.

Gave her a coat of linseed oil and now in the process of coating with tru-oil.I have 2 of 4 coats so far. I will take some pics later.

Toasting sure gives a nice camo effect. Too bad it's on the belly.LOL. But I don't dare toast the back.

I figured that it was over cooked. But it didn't seem to hurt it either. Just finished steaming the yew for 2 1/2 hrs and it's now on the caul.

Linc, good for you. Congratulations. i've found that when the string tracks off center I'm better off shooting from the "non center shot" side. It's easier on my forearm. Jawge
