Side note... I was at a fish fry last night and a guy approaches me and wants to know if I remember him. Long story short, he was there when the first pic was taken. Hadn't seen him since.

Is there an accepted "norm" as far as arrow weight per pound of draw with bows in the 40-45# range? I recently acquired a RER that is 43# at 28", and I am trying to tailor my arrows to it. I have always used arrows of 600ish grains out of bows 50-55#, so I think I need to lighten them up some.
You'll probably get a lot of different answers to this. Personally I like arrows around 450-500grs on deer sizes game if I'm hunting w/ bows under 50#. [/b]
X2. I'd try and stay above 10 grains/lb.

I just had to bring it back up to the top. Got a 44# toelke pika on the way and it'll be hitting the turkey woods in a couple weeks.

I am enjoying this thread more and more! A couple or so years ago, I had surgery on my left shoulder, and luckily I regained the ability to pull my current hunting bows in the 50 - 55# range. This is down considerably from the 65# bow I hunted with for years. Now, my right shoulder is showing some of the symptoms my left one did. I fear that the 40 - 45# range may become the max I can handle. That really doesn't bother too much, as my very first deer was taken with a 45# Ben Pearson recurve, but I would hate to think that would leave me with nearly a dozen bows I won't be able to shoot.

40@27" Howard Hill Tembo and a 145gr Snuffer.15 yard shot while the buck was working an overhanging branch. Think I've hit on a combo that I may be pushing things a bit as far as getting good penetration, going to start shooting grizzly Instinct heads with this bow and see what we get...

Sam: Think of all of the 45# bows you can buy with the money you get from selling the heavy ones..... It's all about having perspective as we age.

Yohon: Nice deer.
