Being a big longbow/wood arrow fan I've been quick to look at carbons with disdain.Just didn't seem right seeing black straws being shot out of the bows of Young and Hill.
But today I found some old carbons that I bought to try out in my recurve and thought "What the heck.I'll give 'em a shot outta my trusty Saxon LB". So I fixed up some 125 gr. steel inserts I had and glued some 125 gr. field points to 'em and let her rip.

HOLY CRAP !!! Sheer amazement.

FYI total weight with 250 gr. up front came to 618 gr. Over 50 grains more than my woodies.
Then for the real test, I actually removed the feathers from 'em and shot just for kicks. Got better performance than I did from my fletched woodies.  I must say,for hunting purposes, I am going to carbons.
Sorry for anyone on here I razzed about carbons.

Rare or well done sir?
LOL
Welcome to the new age of thinking outside the box.
Now it is time to enjoy what you have, and forget the crow, As I recal it tastes bad but it is easy to get over.

Enjoy the crow, Aaron.  :)   We've all had to eat it from time to time as we've gotten older.

And those who haven't - or don't think they ever will - will eat it eventually.   :campfire:

I know I've eaten some lately...

the way i look at it is if it works try it . dont knock it until you do . some die hards will never do this but would be impressed if they did , but to each his own and glad you found a new way broading your experiences . good luck .

Somebody pass Aaron the Heinz 57 for his crow. Welcome to the carbon age Buddy. For the record I was the same way until last year. Enjoy the crow! LOL!!

Nothing like improved accuracy to change one's way of thinking. Isn't it actually fun to hit what you are aiming at? Not saying it can't be done with wood but it is a lot more labor intensive to get wood just right.

Make like the "Crow" is Blackbirds backed in a pie and you are the King, Aaron, and enjoy your new edge - LOL

I have carbons (set up pretty much the same as yours) that shoot straight as a die for me (when I do my part) all set up for my bows - but I seldom use them. (they hit like a freight train too). I just always go back to my alums and woods, and am fixing to make Cane Arrows as I like them best of all - go figure. However, it's hard to argue with the performance of the carbons, and I think if I wind up with a Metal bow in my arsenal, the carbons will get their full usage. No logic to it - just my ways. I think everyone should do whatever works for them, or what they enjoy the most (both together would be great, if it worked out that way   ;) )

If you don't eat crow once in a while you will never really enjoy the taste of chicken. Shoot what works for you
