good archery Glove

Heya

I am shopping for a good glove. I have a damaskas glove and it is the style I like but it is just too thin in the fingers.

I am somewhat sensitive to the pain in my finger tips so I was hopeing for a thicker glove and something better made. the one I have is quickly falling apart even though it is fairly new.

Mayhaps a full glove model that covers the whole hand for colder weather?

From a Canadian source would be even better so I dont have to hassle with the border.

Personally, I need a lot of protection on the fingers. I use either a Howard Hill glove with inserts or a Bateman with inserts.

I,ve been using the "Super Glove" for years, (cordovan tips), for cold weather I use it under fleece gloves with the appropiate finger tip parts cut off.

I second the Bateman with inserts.  Also Neet has one with cordovan tips in cabelas and 3 rivers that is pretty stiff and about half the price of the bateman.

I like the American Leathers big shot glove it has nylon over the fingers to keep it from groving and is real slick on release.

I have used both the Superglove and the American Leathers Big Shot gloves.  I had problems with the Supergloves developing ridges in the cordovan tips.  The Big Shot has held up better for me.

Another vote for the Superglove here.  The Big Shot Slick Shot I had was a very well made glove, but after two tries it still didn't fit and I gave it away.  Bateman also makes high quality gloves.

I've never had much luck ordering gloves, so now I only buy them at shoots where I can try them on first.

I agree with Chad on the fit.  A large is not always the same as a large in another brand or model, or in some cases within the same brand and model.  I buy gloves after I have had a chance to try that paticular glove on.

Make mine a an American Leathers Big Shot, thanks much.  Best glove I've ever shot, and the only real inovation in archery gloves in years.

My fingers are always cracked up & trashed, and the well designed finger stalls on the BS Glove allow me to shoot everyday with minimal discomfort.

Another thing going for the BS Glove is that American Leathers will custom build you a glove or tweak a stock size to fit you exactly, all you have to do is send them a tracing of your hand.  

I did this and had my glove two weeks after I sent them the tracing....

Another vote for AL Big Shot. Been using mine almost daily for a year, still "like new". Great glove. Fit is important, I bought mine at Kazoo & got lucky cuz I looked thru a whole bin (of same size gloves) to find one that fit snug enough.

If you use the Big Shot, you need to go to smooth (like hand tied) nock sets, or file any burs off the metal nock sets. Saves the nylon on the glove.

Ragi, I bought the Bateman 2-seam cordovan at Compton last summer and it's great.

I see they also have one with inserts, but cordovan is pretty thick by itself.

The Bigshot is the ultimate glove.  I found the elk leather to be too soft so I special ordered one in thick cow leather.  I like it so much I have 2 now.  As far as fit goes, I've found over the years that a glove that is too tight initially is best.  I soak the fingers and then stretch it to my fingers.  I keep in on for a few hours, take it off and then let it dry.  The finished glove is then custom fit and fits great.  If you are interested in a thicker bigshot, just ask for the toughshot.  Mark

I have the Super Glove and like it very well. It took a few days shooting and some homemade leather treatment to get it broke in, but it fits well now.

Although, I've had my eye on the new American Leathers Full Shot!
Now that's a nice looking glove too!

I'd like to try one before next season.

I have both a big shot and the full shot.  The full shot is nice when it is cold.  The nylon in the finger tips seems to get swollen and hard with sweat and stays that way when dry. It really helped my release to not get deep creases where the string sits.
