Has anybody done a draw force curve on a 62" black widow PMA? I've looked, but can't seem to find where anybody has published one.

The Whittler

Have you talked to the guys at BW, I'm sure they could/would help you out.

BigStriper

I don't know but could be interesting as I have a 40#  62" PMA.  Great shooter, and I'm liken it.  Kurt

Mostly curious. I ordered a 62". But have debated changing it to a 64.

Arctic Hunter what is your draw length, if it's over 28"-29" you "might" want the 64". But if not you should be fine with the 62". I draw 28" and the 62" is fine for me.  The longer limbs feel good but if to long you are not working the limbs and lose a little power on the longer shot's. Good Luck with your New Widow.    Kurt

That's the debate for me. I have a 30" draw length. I kind of like when a bow starts to stack right behind my draw length. I ordered the 62" the other day. However shoulder surgeries have started acting up lately and have me wondering if I should just go with the longer bow. I also have a lot of time on my hands while I wait on the bow....lol.

BigStriper

Well, with that long of draw you may want to go with the longer Bow, you probably should call Black Widow and talk to Roger or Toby and see what they say.   Kurt

I just broke down and called them today to change to a 64". I know it will be fine at my draw length and probably a little easier on my shoulder. At least I get to build another string. But now I have a bunch of 58" strings I built and can't use unless I get another set of limbs.

I'm kind of happy to hear that you switched to the 64" PMA.  I've had quite a few BW's over the years, and I thought a 64" PMA would be best for you, particularly with your long draw length.  I didn't say anything, because either one would work, a little better performance from the 62", a little more stability with the 64".  It's just a personal preference, but my perception is that people who are drawn to BW seem to be more attracted by their stability and accuracy than their speed.

Thanks McDave. I just had to come to terms with it. I'm a western guy, so I don't hunt out of stands much anymore. Stalking antelope in the wide open and shooting off my knees was the only real concern I had going to a 64". I have a 30" draw but a fairly short torso. But I think I can make it work.

I have followed some of trad labs stuff. He's definitely a fan of the 64" widow, and his DL is shorter than mine. I wasn't able to find any of the testing data though.  I guess since his website isn't there anymore.

BigStriper

I have the 62" but only draw 28", with your 30" draw I think you will be real happy with the 64".  Good Luck with yours, mine shoots real nice.   Kurt

one fact for sure the draw force curve will be SMOOTH, it is a widow
