the short question is...IS 470 grs carbon arrow weight good for bear ,deer,turkey..the bow weight is 50 #....the reason why i ask is becuase i am going from wood to carbon and the weight feels differant...or maybe i am just being stupid..BUT i do like shooting them..ALSO.what weight would be good for ELK in carbons...i am new to this carbon world..any info would be good...thanks john

General answer:  YES
What is being overlooked here is what poundage are you shooting this arrow from?
How many grains per pound of bow weight do you arrive at with that 470gr total arrow weight? That is most likely the more meaningful big picture ............  In the realm of 10 - 12 grains per pound is a sweet spot for many many a bow hunter.

the bow weight is 50#..thanks for saying that...it might help... :biglaugh:

Sounds like you are right around 10gpp.  A Decent hunting weight arrow anyhow.  And able to kill just about any critter on this continent.

LookMomNoSights

....... That's figured by 50# at 28",  losing a few inches of draw and that corresponding weight loss.

You inquired if 470 gns  would be good for your list of multiple species as you transition from wood to carbon. The 470 gns can work however, at the lower end of lethal arrow weight.  I would highly suggest hugging 550 gns. Carbon arrows permit the easiest possibilities in achieving it and obtaining a much more optimized lethal arrow. Note: I typically hunt in the 12 to 13 gpp range...
