So I'm wondering when you are deer hunting or any other hunting do you like a neck knife, sheath knife or possibly just keep a knife in your hunting pack.
Or something else I haven't mentioned.
Love to hear your presence.  :archer:

If I am hunting with a pack, it's in the pack.  I don't need quick deployment to skin and quarter my game and putting it away means less to snag on brush, slow me down, make noise, or get in the way.

If I don't have a pack that day, I want it on my non bow hand when bowhunting or non-trigger finger hand when using a gun so that its out of the way of my weapon.

I've been using my neck knife more the last couple years. When I wear a harness or tree saddle the sheath knife is not comfortable. But I made a kit like my friend kopfjagers so I am going to be carrying that when I'm hunting deeper in the game land's.

Yes.  When hunting I wear an ESEE Izula II as a neck knife in a Kevlar sheath.  I carry a pair of folding CRKT Homefront and Homefront Hunter knives in my coat pockets.  (I like that I can dress out a deer and toss the Hunter in the organ bag and disassemble and clean it up at home).  I also have a Izula (v1.0) attached to the inside of my day-pack so I NEVER forget to have or misplace a knife so long as I have that pack.  And, because I like knives, I usually also have a sheath knife on my belt.  Long, long ago (1980?) I put together a knife based on a 4-1/2" Norwegian laminated steel "Camper" blade (via Dixie Gun Works), red deer antler handle with iron pins through the tang, brass bolster I ground down and polished, and made the sheath from heavy pig leather, and it is kind of a lucky charm for me.  Oh, and there will be a Victorinox Huntsman knife beside my wallet in my hip pocket . .  .because . . . always.

These days I always wear a neck knife, it's always there when I need it, and I only take it off when I hit the sack. I wear a Buck 105 on the hip belt of my backpack, and  my trusty Helle Trofe is in the backpack.

I just use a pocketknife.  I carry one all of the time, hunting or otherwise.  I have a whole drawer full of sheath knives that set unused.

I actually use both while treestand hunting

I use a very small neck knife just as an emergency tool if I need to cut myself out of a harness... or any small job.

A larger knife is in my pack for field dressing or larger task.

I've had a knife on me every day, since I was 8, unless flying, then it's in my toiletries bag.  When hunting, I prefer a small Schrade Sharpfinger on my side, for gutting and skinning.  And in my pack, always is my Dad's KA-Bar, dried stacked leather handle and all, but still shaving sharp.

I have a good pocket knife that I can open one handed, in my pocket. I also carry a sheathed knife in my daypack or side quiver.

I like a good traditional knife as much as anybody but have to say a Havalon Piranta is very handy for field dressing. I learned that from watching guides in Canada, who could be skinning and deboning multiple bear in a single day.

If you use a neck knife with paracord, I recommend you have a pop bead in the paracord.
That way if you happen to get hung up while you are in a tree, you won't hang yourself. Paracord won't break...tippit

I always have at least 3 hunting.  Leatherman and Grossman in my pack/side quiver.  I have a swiss army hunter knife I wear around my neck on Paracord for main deer dressing or emergency.

I always carry a pack of some sort and this knife and saw combo has been in whatever pack I have on for about 25 or so years.
