It's crazy how the sunlight darkens the leather. These two quivers started exactly the same. Same leather, same oil treatment. Only difference is time spent in the sun. Absolutely no stain. If you are making or have a quiver made from vegetable tanned leather. And you like that acorn brown color. Just set it out in the sunlight for awhile. In a number of days or a few weeks it will darken up to a nice brown color.

Same as your skin when it's exposed to the Sun.  :goldtooth:

Some of the advantages to doing it this way is there is no stain to stain your clothes on those hot sweaty days. When they get scratches, just touch them up with some oil. It's my preferred method. Works great.

Mine is already starting to darken up nicely, with just a couple weeks of sunlight.  Its fun to pull it off the porch each night and see how much darker it is!

What would you recommend for care on the veg-tanned stuff, to keep it from drying out over time?

Mo_coon-catcher

It is crazy how much veg tan can darken over time. Here's a keychain I've been packing about a year and I just took the picture. It was undyed and the natural color like your quiver.

Good looking quiver btw.

Even, most of the leather workers I have watched recommend Neats foot oil when it gets dry looking. Or you can use extra virgin cooking oil will work.

Neets foot oil is what I use. Works great and easy to apply. I just a cheap paint brush. Looks streaky at first, but it dries evenly.
