What about it appeals to you? They are good bows. Quite fast, or so mine seems.

If I read correctly that you are looking for suggestions for any recurve then by all means consider a Toelke Chinook. Do a search on posts concerning them on this forum and read the tradlab assessment. They are stable, have exceptional speed and like all Toelke bows are beautifully crafted and QUIET!

Undomesticated is correct. It has to appeal to you. If it is the best bow by popular vote and it doesn't fit you, then it's not the best.

I agree Michael, and I'll go a step further.
I have owned at least four Black Widow bows and the last one (a 62" 51# PSA with a Cooling grip) is far and away the best one of the bunch for me. And I wouldn't have bought it or even tried it, except for the fact that the previous owner sent it to me on a trial basis. We have some great people in the traditional ranks.

Also I have owned a few Tall Tines bows. Saw one languishing on a for sale listing by a guy I personally knew and thought I'd take a chance on it. I say take a chance because it was outside my preferred stats. This one is 58" and previously I wouldn't go below 60", preferring 62". Plus it is predominantly white- probably my last choice of color.

But I love this thing, it shoots great and blends in better thank you would think.
So, you never know- even bows by the same maker, in the same model might have subtle differences that just end up working for you.

Definitely a Northern Winter bow, won't work as well in Texas!!!

Hi Terry,
That bow was dipped when Brian Wessel made it. Not sure who did it, I bought it used.

I had Michael make a heavier set of limbs and am in the PTO Ed's of painting it myself. Not going to be as nice as the original, but it will work.

I will refine it a little, clean it up here and there
And add a few golden leaves like the original.
Now I have the original 47# limbs and new 52# limbs.

X2 on the Chinook. If you're open to different bowyers and haven't yet considered the Cari-Bow Tuktu Ex, do yourself a favor and look into those as well. Simply an amazing, fast and SILENT recurve.

Everyone here can give you a suggestion based on their preferences. What are YOU looking for in a bow? Like nostalgia? Then look at a Bear for the 1970's. Want best performance? Border Covert Hunter.
