Hello,

I'm wanting to buy Glenn St. Charles book Bows on the Little Delta but I have seen a few different copies for sale whether from Amazon, Etsy, or eBay that has different colors along the top and bottom of the dust jacket. I've seen blue, green, and red. Is there a difference in the books or maybe to differentiate the number of printings? I'm on a high right now reading traditional books. I'm in the middle of Jay Massey's Bowhunting Alaska's Wild Rivers and after reading Chapter One, that alone is worth having the book. I was born too late. I wish I could shake all these guys' hands. Respectfully, Jeff

This is a first edition published and signed by Glenn in 1997. I must have bought it shortly after it was published.

Mine is red and is signed as well.

From what I can tell there is a quiver series designated from the Pope and Young Club along with his other book Billets to Bow. Also a deluxe hardcover that is limited, signed, and numbered. Still not sure what the difference in colors on the dust jacket mean but was just more curious than anything. Respectfully, Jeff

I don't know anything about the colors, but his book is worth every penny and more.

I have both red and green versions, but do not recall if there were any differences, or reason.  The dust covers are the same and the chapters and photos in the back are the same.  For other books, look online for private book sellers dealing in hunting or archery books.

Is this book similar to how Jay Massey writes about his Alaskan hunting and river runs? I really enjoy Jay's way of writing. It puts you right over his shoulder like you're there. Very neat stuff. If Glenn's book is similar I can't wait.

I haven't read the Jay Massey writings, but I can assure you that Bows on the Little Delta is classic in every sense of the word: great writing style, characters who we all know and recognize, and interesting hunting stories from the precompound days of our archery history.

They both have their own styles, yet are similar in the fact the they are not about trad bowhunting, but trad bowhunting adventures.

You are going to be happy either way.  :campfire:

I keep hoping to find an affordable copy somewhere. I check the used book store everytime I go.

You're going to love it! I reread mine every couple of years and Glenn signed mine. And since you're on a roll get Mike Mittens book One with the Wilderness!! It's another that I reread every few years and in my opinion probably one of the best ever written along the lines of what you mentioned and I have them all. Mikes a great guy.

elkken

I have these additions, both are signed #10  :)

I'll reach out to Jay StCharles and see if he can tell us the significance of the different color dust covers  :archer2:

Along with Jay's books and Silvertip.  These books can be re-read annually.

Right on. I didn't know his son wrote one. My rabbit hole I'm going down is branching out.  :archer2: How about Billets to Bow? Is that one worthy to get as well? I have a chance to get that one as well. Thanks for all your guys' input. Good people in traditional archery here. -Jeff

I was able to find a couple mint copies of Bows on the Little Delta. I just happened to find an archery website that had his books listed at one point and time and found the phone number listed at the bottom of the website and just decided "what the heck" and give it a call in case of a long shot they might have a couple left maybe? I got a very kind lady that answered on the other end and I asked if they happened to still have any on hand? She stated paraphrasing "Well I'll have to look and see. I believe I still have a couple of dad's books left that are in his library that are kept back from signing mistakes." I said "Wait, this is his daughter?" She said "Well yes, this is Northwest Archery Shop and I'm Suzanne St. Charles." I said I had no idea I was calling his archery shop let alone speaking to his daughter. I was blown away. We had a great conversation and she said all the kids are involved in archery. My brother Jay makes bows, my other brother sells books sometimes and is vast in history of archery, and I make arrows. So she let me know that she thought she had maybe 3 copies over the phone but would check and get back to me. Upon texting me back she said she had a first edition-first printing trades edition signed by dad and as well as a Authors Presentation (limited to 200) edition signed and numbered #151 with slipcase. I am beyond words and can't believe I came across these books in this manner. She was gracious enough to sell me both books. They arrived today and she even included a pamphlet of Glenn St. Charles and a photo of herself and her dad stating "thank you". A very nice touch. She was class act all the way. I swear that the traditional archery realm has the best and kindest people involved. I attached the photos. I have to finish The Bowyers Craft by Jay Massey then I'm cracking these books open.
