Hello, I'am new to bow building and have my form for laminate bow. I was wondering if I could use parallel fiberglass instead of the Formica strip?

If you got a smooth finish you really don't need anything. A bamboo parallel will work fine

It's kind of expensive, and would be over kill in my opinion. But yes... you could use it I suppose. Like Mike was saying, using any type of wood edge banding would work fine too as long as it's milled accurately.

What did you use to build your form? Got pics?

I am using Bingham projects plans.

Long time ago I ordered two clear glass strips and a formica strip from Bingham for a 1.75" form and build.  Package arrived and it looked like three glass strips.  Called Elmont and asked what gives.  He said the formica was there and it had a label on it.  I could sense rather than hear him chuckling.  Looked at all three and found one of the glass strips was indeed labeled "formica strip".   :biglaugh:
