I hope the attachment works but I was pheasant hunting with my black powder 20 and I came across a deer pit,   basically counted 7 deer thrown in it which I think are roadkill deer... this is a state management area and this is usually where they do that I'm not the only bird hunter to stumble on it because you could smell it 50 yds downwind.    anyway I'm going back but with the longbow to go for a pheasant walk and then gonna sit near that pile of deer and wait for coyotes because  I think that pit has been there for a few years there was bones everywhere.    I'm wondering if I can just on the ground for this one or should I be in the treestand,, I don't really wear camo so this should be interesting

From my somewhat limited coyote experience, they are extremely sharp. More so than a deer in my opinion. Chances are they won't come straight in, but are going to circle it first and more than likely get your wind. A tree would definitely be your best bet, especially if you're not going to wear camo. Coyote hunting is a lot of fun, but very challenging!

getting ready to head out its about a 1.5 hr drive but I'll get a better pic....  Trenton  I agree with what your saying but in this case I'm wondering if its been here so long with no threat they will just come straight in for dinner but we'll see.  I will do a wind check and even in my climber I'm usually tucked into some pines branches a bit hidden,  I don't go up trees where im in the open.

I would expect that more than coyotes will show up, likely turkey vultures, eagles and bobcats as well, who knows maybe a bear or two

They will circle downwind, and survey the area before committing. From the pic looks like you sat too close. Have to have the wind absolutely right, and get cover. During daylight, with a bow you'll probably need to be in a stand but not impossible from the ground either. Coyotes are smarter than people think, at least up here in the northeast where we hunt them hard.

This pic is from the stand,, i was above one carcass but there were others away from that tree about 25yds.  I was kind if in the middle of 11 deer plus there was bones and legs and a ear 30-40 yds away that i saw walking in.  I figured id at least hear something take off if i got winded but it was dead quiet.

I'd also avoid walking around the carcasses too much. I've seen pressured coyotes leave a perfectly good carcass and never come back after human scent is there. I guess they've just learned that if a human finds it, chances are there's going to be a trap or something set there and they'll move on to something else.

Good luck!

Shooting yotes with a bow is like shooting smoke!!!!  Good luck.
