Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has made their own laminations out of lumber boards? If I was backing it with clear fiberglass do I need to worry about wich one the grain is running? Thank you.

I do it all the time but not from the white woods the lumberyards sell. Mostly hard maple, red elm, laminated boo, hickory etc.

I built two test bows awhile back from hard maple lams, one flat grain and one edge grain. Only difference in the two was the flat grain had a quarter inch more spring back off the form .

Okay thanks. I just seen some boards on exotic hards I thought that would look really nice under some clear fiberglass.

Those work too, I usually go .030 on the heavy woods and use a good core of less expensive and lighter weight . May not matter in performance much , but a couple FPS here and a couple there get to be quite a bit... :o
