Shorten longbow by 4", how much weight gain?

If one would take a hybrid longbow of say 60" in length and cut off/make it 56" in length how much weight gain do you think there would be? Starting with 25 or 30# at 28", maybe 35#. And I'm talking about a two lam bamboo limb with glass like the Black Hunter TD longbow.

60 to 58 on my d/r bows makes 6 # but on a lighter bow to start I'm not sure, maybe 10 going 4" less?

The lighter the bow the less you will gain.

Shorten a TD Hybrid bow by 4" may result um messing Up the bow.
The limbs could become to short and IT could Stack pretty hard.

It certainly could not be the same design you started with 4 in. Shorter.

4" is a lot! You will certainly have to re-taper the limbs, which will take the weight down even more.

  Whether it is possible or not depends on a few factors... 

Like how is the bow built?? Like does it have deflex?? Does it have a forward grip??  What is the length of the riser (fade tip to fade tip)??  How it looks at brace and how are the limbs bending??  Does it have or can you shoot a short brace height (under 7")??  How narrow are the limbs and will they need re-tapering??

Why do you want to pike it??  Is your draw under 28"??  What is your skill level as far as re-tapering the limbs, if need be...  Is the bow a very good bow and valuable or a throw away??

  60" is already on the short side of things but you do have a light bow so the limbs are thinner and more flexible...  I try to say "Yes" at doing most things but if the scales tip to much to the negative side then I will have to say no...  If most of my questions are answered to the positive side I would say there is a good possibility you will be successful at piking it...  If one or two factors are a big negative it may be wrong to pike it...  Most times you are better off selling the bow and using the money towards another one...  Especially if your skill level is not up to snuff...

The bow in question is a Black Hunter TD longbow as I sort of mentioned in my first post, which is 60" in length with a 15" handle. I own several of them from 25-40# and really like how they shoot.

I also own several Bear Mag TD A handled recurves with #1 limbs making a 56" bow and really like how they shoot.

I do all my hunting from the ground in a low seated position that the 56" bow works well. But I really like the smoothness and quietness of the Black Hunter TD longbow but there are sometimes wish it was shorter. Hence my thoughts of wanting to try to make one shorter. I totally understand the changes that will happen from shortening the limbs, but still doesn't mean it will destroy the limbs. Yes the limbs will need to be tapered again but not by that much. There will still be lots of reflex left in the limbs.

Am willing to sacrifice a set of limbs(not that expensive) to try this, but really have no experience with any of this. This really would not be that difficult to do for someone with the knowledge and experience.

PS: the working length on the longbow limb after shortening would be the same length as the 56" recurve, 17".

What is your draw length ?
28", 26"?

For no more than a Black Hunter cost. Sell it get what you want. You don't want my opinion on that bow.

Draw length is 28" max, probably closer to 27.5" on the Black Hunter , which is my favorite grip.

Stic, yes they are cheap, but have a heavy handle with a yummy grip and I don't know where to buy a bow with similar handle/grip with longbow limbs in 56" length for less or equal to in price of 8-9 Black Hunters. So I figured I'd try to convert one to a shorter length or have someone do it for me. I agree that it may ruin the limbs or I may not like how it shoots but right now have never shot a hybrid TD longbow or any longbow less than 60" to know.
