Either type riser about the same. Bandsaw the grip you want leaving about 3/4  in. Too big then as you shape it down to size. I start the throat first in the belly front corners rounding them out and finger grooves o the sides. Then work the rrest of the grip down until it feels good in the hand. Getting the throat area really close to final sanding then straight up to the shelf above the deepest part and Mark it and round the shelf leaving that marked spot high for the pivot point.
There are several U tube vids on this subject.

Wow!   Would you look at the size of that thumb ledge. :o :o :o   Reminds me of some of the old Fedora risers.

Are you looking for finished photos or technique on your request?   I could do a video on the next one i'm shaping if you like.....  Kirk

It might be a bit hard to see. I like to cut a groove into the arrow pass. I believe that it allows better clearance for fletching.

I thought the question was about procedure.

I never seem to make them truly the same twice but if it's a locator it'll be pretty much like this.

Thanks Kirk. The neat thing about it was that it glued up without any fussing around. They don't always go that easily.

Here is an uncut video of shaping a riser. It really should have been edited and parts cut out where my camera angle was wrong.... But i'm having issues with my editing software and just uploaded it full length. It's about 40 minutes long...... After the film is done i spent about another 30 minutes sanding it down to 220 using a sanding sealer.

The product i use for a sanding sealer is a high gloss spray lacquer by Deft.

Here are some photos of the finished product. It's not a one piece... but it sure does look like one.
