Good afternoon,
Saving up for a Black Widow takedown recurve, and am getting really interested in the fixed crawl aiming method.

If you were having a new Black Widow built, would you have them set it up for 3 under I assume?

Any special requests to make sure that it's setup to be as efficient as possible right from the get go?

Very new to the fixed crawl deal, just wanting to feel more confident when I draw back, whether that's for practice or for hunting.

For sure I'd call the guys at black widow and talk it over with them, great guys and very knowledgeable they of course are familiar with the aiming method and how it affects tiller. I'd imagine a bow tillered 3 under is going to be pretty great but maybe they'd take it a step further? I personally switched last summer to a fixed crawl and am really loving it was very practical hunting too this year made some of my best kills on deer with it. My bows including a widow PSA are all tillered for 3 under and shoot pretty smooth

Are you able to get your BW fairly quiet (focused on hunting) using the fixed crawl aiming method?

Yes quiet enough that I'm satisfied for the moment. I think literally the only thing I don't love about the fixed crawl is the slightly louder bow noise. My widow was always very quiet shooting standard 3 under with a crawl I can tell is one fuzz louder but still plenty quiet for hunting. It's quieter than my Morrison I hunted with this year but the super curves are generally louder anyway I think. I didn't want to mess with things mid hunting season now that it's over I plan to spend the off season tweaking things to get it as quiet as possible. Going to bump up my arrow weight mess with silencers ect...
I would add my point on is 25 so I'm not to far below my nock which helps as well

If BW has anything close to what you want in stock, it might be worth your while to get one under their try before you buy program and see for yourself how it works out with a fixed crawl.

Personally my BW ASA (which is the anniversary edition of the PSA) works better with a fixed crawl than any other bow I have.

There is a great article in the issue before last of Trad Bowhunter by Jason Westbrock about tuning for the fixed crawl which taught me a lot.

I'm hoping to head down to Nixa in early February to spend the day talking with the guys at BW and shooting the different models.
