This matched set of kitchen knives are in AEBL steel with a hand rubbed 800-grit finish which should be easy to maintain with Scotchbrite pads in the kitchen. They are handled in stabilized birdseye maple burl over forest green and white liners and have complimentary 1/8" and 1/4" mosaic pins. The 6" and 9" chefs knives have a full height shallow convex grind down to 0.010" and the Small Game Hunter for a paring knife has a hollow grind down to 0.012". They cut like lazers. I think Katy is going to like them...

Beautiful knives, but I would be afraid to let my wife handle them. She would cut off a finger for sure. However, put them in the camp kitchen and hunting camp becomes a culinary resort.

Thanks for the compliments.  I'm sure these will nick a fingertip sometime or another.  My wife has wanted one of my knives for years and just won't ever tell me what she wanted because she really doesn't care for hunting knives.  So, I made her some kitchen knives despite me not enjoying doing kitchen knives.  She's always been a fan of birdseye maple, so I got some really nice birdseye maple and stabilized it to make it more "kitchen proof," put her favorite liner colors on, and dressed it up with mosaic pins.  I thought about a higher end finish on the metal but in all honesty a satin, 800-grit, hand rubbed finish looks pretty clean and can be maintained with a Scotchbrite pad so the finish should wear pretty well.  I offered to make her a magnetic board for the wall but she wanted leather sheaths so she can take them with us when we travel.
