Hello Fella's,
Just returned from Manitoba and scored on my first colour bear which was also my first traditional bear.  This was my 5th bear and I've shot bigger but this was the most special one for me to date.

Resident cub we called "Toughie".  He would growl, snap and woof at every bear that came in then when they looked at him he would run higher up the tree.

My Son Cameron is hidden nicely in the tree next to me.  He was only about 5 yards away.  It was his first time bear hunting and in the first 10 minutes had a young bear in his tree at arms length....  He handled it better than his Dad would have.  The curious bear shimmied down after a few words were said to him.

Just a nice picture of one of the many bears we saw.

This is a view from my stand.  My arrow ended up wedged between the barrel and tree.

I took the bear on the left on the third night of our hunt.  With bad weather forcasted and the excitement of watching my Son shoot his first bear ever (the one on the right) I decided to drop the string.  This beautiful cinamon bear walked in from my right.  As soon as I saw that bear everything went into auto-pilot.  I drew back my 55lb Cari-bow S Lynx to a solid anchor, leaned forward on the seat and focused hard on my spot.  My CX Heritage with the 200 gr VPA zipped right through slamming into the tree and barrel behind the bear.  At impact the bear turned to run and I could see massive blood flow immediately.  The bear expired and gave the death moans only 45 yards from the shot.

Great photos. This is a great story and must have been very special since you were able to share it with your son. Congrats to both of you on great bears!
