Well I was able to wrangle in a pheasant hunt into my spring break ski trip itenerary. Mountainman on TBH was kind enough to set up a hunt at a hunt club near his place in Colorado Springs. Grant and his brother used shotguns and I used my longbow. They let me be in the middle and shoot first; then they would put the birds on the ground after I missed. I did get a hen that was still on the ground right near the end of our hunt. This was a true blast and I will go back again to try to knock one of those cocks out of the air. Here are a few pics from the excursion:

This first one is of me with one of the pointers at the truck:

These are of the dog finding my bird and of me first getting hold of it:

This last one is a Glory shot after the hunt. As you can see I did not hinder the shotgunners:

Well right after we got home from that trip it was Turkey season in south Texas and I could not help myself. I had to go give it a try. I managed to take a very nice Tom with my Sarrels Sierra longbow. He sported a 10 1/2" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.

I hunted for a few more days and was unable to close the deal on another longbow tom so on the last afternoon I broke out the scattergun and used two more of my tags. I love to eat chicken fried turkey breast so I can give in and use the gun every once in a while but it is not nearly as fun as the stick.

see y'all later,

LITTLEBIGMAN, I love my Sarrels bows. I own 7 or 8 of Bob's bows; some one piece and some two piece. You will see different bows in some of my pics but they are all Sarrels.
