I went to the lease this week for one last crack at a buck but it was not to be. I did manage to get a nice bearded hen turkey though. She sported a 5 1/2" beard. Here's a couple pics:

I shot this bird with my Sarrels Sierra longbow, 48#@29", GT55/75 arrow, and GK Silverflame XL broadhead.

Take it easy,

Nice looking bird...are you going to get her mounted?  On the roost would look nice with the beard hanging down.

Here is a photo of a friend bird...

Congrats bud!!  Bearded hens are always cool to see!

I've seen several over the last few years, but have never had a shot at one.

I hunt in Texas and it is quite frequently that we see bearded hens. Most have very short and not very thick beards. This one was very thick for a hen and 5 1/2" long. That is a good one down here.  I saw one this fall that had two distinct beards. ireally wanted that one but have not seen her in a long time now.

I wish all "unsuccessful" buck hunts ended so well!  Nice bird!

Grantumu

Beautifull game-bird. I would like to have an equivalent in France.
Beautifull feathers.
Is it a good meat (as same as pet turkey)?

Zach Mikita

April is right around the corner   :bigsmyl:

Grantumu - Wild turkeys make excelent table fare if prepared correctly. They are not so good cooked whole but the breast meat tastes great if breaded and fried.

Thanks for all the comments guys,

Bisch

That is awesome! Hoping some sort of turkey passes by me with a beard this spring, LOL!
Just one more step please!
