How to summon/tag someone in a post?

I am wondering how to summon a person. This is in a way that will notify the person who is mentioned.

For example: If I would like to mention Bent Shaft in a post and notify him, do I write u/Bent_Shaft ?

Or is there a specific way we can do that?

or, do a directory search for him, view his profile, and send him a pm.
