sticknstringer,, I was wondering the same thing but figured with a buck that nice he must still  have "Buck Fever"   :p   Looks like a good hit too..Was that from the ground?

Keefer,  I shot him on the good side of the bay, Calvert co. lol It was from a tree stand.
I must have still had buck fever, I meant the 11TH.  It was 4:00 in the morning I was still wired and couldn't sleep.
It was the last few minutes of shooting light when this guy jumped a fence but didn't take the trail I needed.  He walked about 20 to 25 yards out but that late I couldn't chance a shot  Too many limbs hanging down and the need to pick a spot.  As he was leaving I put my binoculars on him.  I knew he was a shooter and thought he was an 8 point but I was shaking so bad I couldn't tell if he had 10.  I then hear deer walking to my left coming from the same direction he came from.  He then starts making a circle back towards me and ends up 15 yards in front of me facing the 2 deer that are now walking real slow.  His vitals are just behind a Beech tree six feet in front of me with his head, neck and front legs showing.  I had to lean backwards to get clearance of the tree and started drawing the bow real slow.  I was silhouetted to the 2 deer and was afraid they would see me draw the bow.  It was a hill side and they were just below my level.  This was the slowest I have ever drawn.  I bet it took 12 to 15 seconds to get to full draw and lock in.  I saw the arrow disappear about 10 inches up behind his leg and a few inches back, right where I aimed.  I tracked him 75 yards where he jumped a creek so I backed out and went home to eat dinner.  Picked up the trail 2 hours after the hit and found my arrow about 100 yards in, must have been hanging by the fletching.  It wasn't a bad trail, but we lost it twice where he made left turns.  The second time was in a field and I started getting that sick feeling, a lot of you know what I'm talking about.  My buddy finally picked up the trail where the deer made a sharp left.  Finally found the deer about 150 yards further. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it, but he was still alive 3 hours after the hit.  What are the odds, he died within 3 minutes of us finding him.  The arrow exited right at the color change behind the arm pit just nicking the bottom of the heart, about 1/2 inch slice.  It was probably 600 yards tracking, but just short of 400 yards as the crow flies by Google earth.  To say I was tickled pink would be an understatement.
I was using a Robertson long bow 63# @ 29 with Easton 20/20 shafts and Eclipse broad heads.

Terry, that's an awesome buck!!!

I can see I hunt on the wrong side of the Bay. If that would have been me you would have only seen my teeth in the picture.   :D
