I took my first deer with a longbow last Saturday.  It was a beautiful evening and the deer were traveling.

What was big was not the antlers, but the chance. What was full was not the meatpole but the memory of the hunt.    --Aldo Leopold

It is a Martin Savannah 55# @ 28".  I only draw it about 26" so I'm pulling about 47# according to my bow scale and ruled arrow.  Seems to be plenty with a 200 grain STOS broadhead.  I also made the quiver.  I just got back into traditional archery this year after a ten year hiatus. I carried a Jeffrey royal hunter for a few years, but never took anything bigger than a squirrel. Figured I'd spice things up a bit.....don't have to carry a tool box now.
