I was fortunate enough to get to hunt Kentucky's bow opener Saturday. Living here in Illinois I am usually pacified with a great bow hunt out west for elk or mulies in September before we get things kicked here October first. This year after training for my 4th triathlon of the year with my eye on the 5th, I developed some chest pain after a 2 hour bike ride. I had to cancel my trithalon slot, and to my disgust, my elk trip I had planned. To say that I was bummed was an understatement. I am set for a stress test (fun), but it hasn't kept me from shooting my bow!

A friend helped me out of my funk by inviting me to bowhunt his family farm. I had high hopes of perhaps taking a great deer in velvet but jumped at the opportunity to take this great doe instead. It's my first Kentucky whitetail since my college days at Murray State University 12 years ago when I used to hunt Land Between The Lakes as much as I attended class! It's also my first with my new-to-me Palmer recurve bought from a fellow tradganger. Arrow weight 612 gr, CE Heritage 250s cut to 30.5 in, 200 grain Muzzy Phantom 2 blade.

Congrats Michael!
Nice deer, I know you will enjoy the tasty venison. Also, good luck with the tests!

I went saturday here in Kentucky but didn't fire a shot. Nothing within range! Had a great time anyway.

Thanks everyone! Cooked some backstrap for the family last night, and it was great. Kids loved it! My heart tests were all clear yesterday, too.  Now I can train for that half-marathon with an eye on drawing that Wyoming Unit 7 tag in 2010. God is Good.

Great deer and good news on the test.  I have done that stuff with the test and been all clear.  I chalk it up to stess.  Best cure for that is more hunting so get out there and get well.

I did have a friend with some chest pain stuff they couldn't figure out for a long time.  He was a distance biker.  Found out it was hydration related.

Keep the ticker in good order for plenty of hunts ahead. I'm a Kentucky fan especially elk. Nice doe.
