Starting my first glass backed bow. The "pronounced" take-down long bow. Got most of the materials from Binghams. One thing I didn't order was the high heat masking tape figuring I could pick it up localy. Well can't find it anywhere. Any ideas on where to find it or is regular masking tape OK?...

I saw several bowmakers mentioned the painters tape. Will it not stick to hard when used in an oven cure? Biff

What about tape used in automotive paint shops?  That's going to go through a baking process.  Might be available at auto supply/parts stores maybe...  Like to find a local source myself...

The blue painters tape comes off the limbs even after cooking. I've never had a problem using it.

I've tried a bunch.
the blue painters tape works great, but it costs more and if I remember right I had a hard time getting it wide enough for 1 3/4 inch glass.
still it would be my first choice if you can get it.
as far as masking tape goes, 3M tape seems to work the best for me. It comes off much easier than some of the others I've tried.

I have 3M blue masking tape in 1 1/2" and 1 3/4" in the shop.  It is made to be less sticky.
