You know how glass bows have those overlays on the back of the grip area and belly side of the tips? Have any of you tried that with a bamboo backed bow. I plan to try it.

It will work OK if you match the contour of the overlay to the boo. Scrape or sand the rind off also so the glue holds.    Pat

I sand the tips flat at an angle before glueing on the overlays.  This is what they look like.

I do it like Apex.  Handle overlays are tough, but something that works very well is gluing tooling leather down, shaping it and saturating it with superglue.  Comes out looking like a dark wood.  :)

For tip overlays I do the same as these guys. Handle overlays over boo might be difficult because you will have to match the contour.     Pat

What about overlays on the belly side of the tips? I started a bow with this and I will try to get pictures up soon but hunting is high on my list of priorities. I have not finished the bow due to a set back in its progress. I need to decide on a patch for a belly crack.
I've done tip overlays on the back of bows but I've not tried a handle overlay.
