Howdy Folks,

I am a noob, with a little problem I am hoping someone can help me with, and I truly appreciate any input at all. I don't mean to be off topic, but this has to do with something that some of you know quite a bit about

I have had need, of a Bear Tamerlane for quite awhile, I finally got one on ****, I get the bow, and there they are.. 3 small hairline, stress cracks, about 3-4 inches ea. on the riser just before the limbs.

I've always wanted to shoot one of these bows, now tell me, is this a problem and if so, is it fixable?

Also, I am digging that making your own bows is very cool, and I want to get into it.

Thanks All,
Dave Bass

Most older bows have these cracks. They won't affect the way the bow shoots and don't need to be repaired in my opinion. Shoot your bow and enjoy it.

On the riser?  Do you have any photos?

Thanks for the responses, sounds like great news.  I will post some pics in the eve.

I've shot bows for years with various stress cracks. Never had a problem yet, but many folks shy away from buying a bow with stress cracks - they seem to really diminish the value

The link from Shamus shows two bows with "acceptable" and "unacceptable" stress cracks but no help of fixing them.
