riser vs limb length a different angle

With the other question on limb length that was posted.
    What is the normal riser length for a 60 in one piece r/d long bow?
    I made a 60 lb take down that uses a 12 in riser and 8 1/4 wedge that made my ??? riser ???section  from the tip of the wedge fade to tip of the wedge fade  or from the begining part of the working part of the top limb to the working part of the bottem limb about 24 inches. How does that compaire to a one piece ( i dont have any one piece bows to compair) bow?
    What if i used 10 1/4 in wedge, which would shorted the working part of the limb . How much thinner would lams in the limb be to equal the same 60 lb .
    Wouldnt that help add a little speed and a little less hand shock???

I would say 17 to 18 inches...some are longer some are shorter.

There is always a trade in the amount of working limb.

The more working limb you have the smoother the draw...smoother being less pound gained per inch from brace to full draw.

There is a ton of info avaiable, do a search here or pick up a good book.

I try to stay at about 7" of riser for a 60" longbow.  this gives me plenty of room for the shelf and the grip and also gives me enough working limb.  The more riser, the less limb to work.  DW.....
