Flemish strings

I don't know if this is the proper forum for this question but I'll try it here. I can make endless strings and have several jigs but would like to make some flemish strings. I have seen a build along on another site but get lost when making the loops. How do you get the ends braided into the string when making the loops. Thanks, Don

You will surely get some answers here but in my opinion, it's very hard to explain to someone but very easy to show someone.  If you can find a video showing how it's done it will make it much easier.  After you see it done once you won't forget.  I've tried to explain it to a few people and after I get to the part of making the loop and twisting the strings back together, I can see the blank look on their face.  Check on here, there might be a video clip of it.

When I was learning, I found a couple videos on U-tube.  That and trial and error and a little frustration and I soon figured it out.

I found the "Doin the Twist" DVD with Joe Stark and Chad Weaver was extremely helpful and had lots of good hints that helped me build my own technique.  And Aaron has it right, it really is hard to explain, but if you see it and then try it you will figure it out.

It's like tying shoes--easy to do, hard to explain.  There's a lot more to making a good string than just making the loops too.

I've found this video to be informative.  It doesn't cover how to use a jig, but it does a decent job of explaining how to twist them up.
