looks good, take a little more off then you'll be ready to long string it...

Dano

I think you oughta go to a long string, just take it slow and don't pull it over your desired draw wieght.

now if its say #50 at 15" and i want to make it #45 at 26" what must i do? when do ya cut the string nocks in the bow? thanks guys

are you going to keep the 45#? then you will take small amounts of wood off but stay at the 45# and watch the bends. You'll tiller it to be 26"@45#.

Your next mark will be 45# @ 16" then 17" then so on & so on till you get to 26"

JEFF B

yes i want  to  keep it at  #45 oh i see. hey thanks sal. but if ya take more wood off does that not lower poundage ?

Yes, but Your tillering it, You want it to bend in the limbs to reach the 26" mark at 45 #..

After you scrape some more, You'll see that at 15" it wont be 45#. You're keeping the 45# but moving the bend out more.

Dano

Jeff, if you could pull the bow to 26" right now, the draw wieght would probably be 75-80# For every inch of draw the bow will gain roughly 3#. That's why you bend a bow slowly under your draw wieght removing flat spots in the limb and keeping the limbs balenced (bending the same). Here's some good reading it might help you more.

That is looking really good Jeff! I start getting anxious to get to full draw at about this stage but you've got to keep going easy. Learn from my mistakes!

Seems a little stiff in the right limb, midlimb and towards the tip. Otherwise looking very good! At what length draw are you hitting your target wt?
BTW, good job on taking 2nd place!!
