After watching a few episodes o Forged in fire, I noticed they harden the blades but don't temper them. Is that done off camera? They have some tough chopping tests that I wouldn't want to try with a brittle blade.

I have wondered that myself.  I also wonder why a knife maker would submit himself to the restraints they impose on the ones that take part in the show.
These are all good smith's who are sent home lots of time because they cant forge and grind a knife blade in 4 hours.  I feel for them.

Yes they temper off camera.  I suppose that is not dramatic enough for TV!

I enjoy the show!

I like it too. Best show on tv right now.
Life is hard, but it's harder if you're stupid.

Do you realize last years winner Burt Foster is a member here on Trad Gang.  He doesn't come on often but I got  Burt and his son some recurves and longbows several years back...tippit
