I've been enjoying watching Lin's progression with his blacksmith knives the last few months.  One of these days, I'm hoping to learn the process myself, but at the present I'm doing good to find time to do 2-3 stock removal knives a year.  That kinda makes it hard to forge a blade period, let alone learn a brand knew process.  Anyway, I've mentioned on a couple of his other posts that I'd like to see a blacksmith fillet knife, but I've also been thinking about something a little more ambitious that I'd like to see him try.  I know he likes to push himself on everything he does, and I don't have the money to commission one of these from him, so I'm calling him out to prove his talent as a blade/blacksmith.     :D    Maybe that way, I'll at least get to see one of these come to life.  So here it is:  I want to see a D-gaurd X-Rhea Bowie.  The D-guard doesn't have to be attached at the back of the grip, but I personally think that two rivet points on the knife would be more of a challenge to pull off.  So there it is.  The gauntlet has been set.

Lin, I double dog dare you.  ;)

I'll commit a slight breech of eticate by skipping the triple dare and bumping this right up to a triple dog dare.
Life is hard, but it's harder if you're stupid.

Give me a little time Matt. I have to study on it. I bet it can be done.

I don't doubt it can be done.   ;)   But I know I can't do it, so I figured I'd call out the one guy that probably can.  I know you like to push every concept you try to the extreme, so I figured it might interest you.  After this, we'll move on to the fully integral "blacksmith style" Scottish basket hilt sword.    :scared:   Whether you ever try the D-guard or not, I've thoroughly enjoyed watching you progress through this study of the blacksmith style knife.
