This years ST Judes Auction has been real an eye opener for me.

If I hadn't been trying to learn Lin Rhea's Blacksmith knife and forging up 3 different versions...if I hadn't decided to add another knife which I thought was just a scrap forging exercise...if I hadn't taken a picture of it in between rain showers.  I would never have put that knife with it's Kydex blade cover in my pocket.  It hangs so free that I don't notice it walking, sitting down, etc.  I hardly ever wear one of my knives as I don't like the feel of a belt knife especially for everyday use.  But this knife has just replaced my clip folder that I always carry.  The Kydex sheath is cut so there is just a small space between the handle and sheath for a firm fit.  Now I can finally have one of my knives safely with me all the time.  How cool is that for a bladesmith!

Latest version of the auction knife...6 1/2" OAL of 1084 steel.  One more improvement needed...to figure out how to shape the curved handle so I can open my favorite beverage  :)   tippit

PS:
Once again many thanks to Lin for all his help.  I only finish ground the blade everything else was done traditional blacksmith style as Lin had suggested...tippit

You'll notice the "luckiest" elk hunters have worn out boots.

Now that's just plain cool.

Great idea Jeff! I like it!
Time spent alone in the woods puts you closer to God.

"Can't" never accomplished anything.

NittanyRider

very cool!  do you have a picture of the knife in hand that you could post?

TrackerNy

Nice! Really like the idea and look.

NittanyRider....

It has been getting a lot of use in the past couple of days...already starting to take on a patina.  I have a large hand.

That is a brilliant way to make the tang into a clip - great knife.

I like it!

Tried one, unsuccessful!

You have inspired me to give it another try!
