Second Knife

I thought since I finally joined up to the Trad Gang after years of lurking, I would post up my second knife.
I made it following the knife from a file build along.  [/url] [/IMG]

Made from an old ferrier rasp, (stock removel)
dutch Elm scales with deer antler blosters

Thanks it was a lot fun to do.
Handle is Dutch elm. It was cut from my father in laws front yard. It was a huge tree.
He got it milled and gave me two 2" thick planks 16" wide and heavy as hell.
I made the knife for my brother in law.
I'm currently in the process of trying my first fiberglass recurve outa more of the same.
I've still got the knife bug and so I order up some w2 o2 and some 1048 to try along with some exotic wood scales.

You're all a talented group of people and I really appreciate all you share.

Ain't nothing wrong with that one.  Keep posting.  If you really want to improve quickly, take pictures from different angles to show the handle thickness/profile from different angles, the fit of the scales to the tang, the straightness, etc. and post them on here for these guys to critique for you.  Asking for and receiving honest advice from guys like Lin, Darcy, and others on here has helped me tremendously.  They can point out things you can improve that you may not even realize need improvement.  I know it's been that way with me.  Telling you to ask them for advice is the best advice I can give you......and really probably the only advice I'm qualified to give.

Well I got my new scale material.  [/url] u[/IMG]
Redwood burl, zebra wood, padauk, and African Blackwood.
Unfortunately my steal just shipped a few minutes ago.
Likely won't arrive until I'm back at work. Which means another 2 weeks until I can play.
On the bright side I was able to take a couple of afternoons this week and made my kiddos each a bow.
Really quick tiller with the string on. They're having a blast

This is my first knife. Did it in late 2013. Same pattern but the bevels where freehand filed. (I used a file jig on the second). The scales are from a hardwood floor sample. They called it tiger wood?
