Skinning/Carving Hatchet

I just finished this small hatchet that could be used for skinning or wood carving. The geometry is sort of thin to allow for slicing, but can still handle some chopping of wood around camp. The handle is 13-1/2 OAL so it wont be hard to pack. The body of the head is mild steel and has a forge welded bit of 1075 high carbon steel. I carved the handle of kiln dried Hickory.

Thank  guys. Here is a picture of the head before it is folded. This illustrates the way a rectangular chuck of iron or steel can be stepped in or out to begin the ax. Since it will be folded, it is important to start in the middle and make the sides a mirror image of one another.

That is a great last photo Lin.  I assume you bend it close, clean and flux and then forge weld the two sides together prior to adding the 1075 bit?
