I was asked to make couple of knives using stabilized elk horns from Idaho and D2 tool steel.
First one is a hidden tang hunter: Oregon myrtle/red stabilized buckeye spacer/elk horn. Some old gouges from rut fight on the horn can be seen.

Second is another one of my Integral Hilt with tapered tang knives: Stabilized Claro walnut with elk horn cap using G-10 spacer.

Really like that first one Mike.

Like em both Mike. Can you tell a lot of difference between stabilized and non-stabilized elk horn?

No, not really, Doug. I thought stabilization process would help fill-up the spongy middle of the horn with resin, but not this particular horn. May be another stabilizing outfit can do that, I don't know. Both stabilized and non-stabilized horns polished well, so I am inclined to not send any more of my horns for stabilization.

Shinken

DANG!

Those are simply fabulous!

Keep up the great work!
