This is a purchased blade with Cocobolo scales. The pics don't do the wood justice. The go from golden yellow to a deep purplish color. I do see a scratch that I didn't notice. Dang looks like it will have to be resanded. LOL Enjoy.

Thats a good lookin knife.  I like the wood!  How is it?

The blade is 3-5/8" x 1-1/16. Seems to have a nice balance and weight. Thickness is 3/32 on the blade and 1/8 at the tang. Pins are copper. It is a damascus blade with a different carbon? tamg. Or it just might be unetched.

Balance??  Where should a knife balance?  How critical is this in the build?

skullworks

I say balance...I really mean it feels good. LOL! Maybe someone with more experience could address that.

Skull, I don't mean this the wrong way, but what is preventing you from making/shaping your own blade blanks?

skullworks

Mainly right now it is more of a time issue than anything. Single dad of a 10 year old and also help take care of my 76 year old mother. I am in the process of getting some cement saw blades to work with. I also do european mounts and also work 50 hours a week. LOL! So much for my sob story!

I like the cocobolo scales.  Really sets off the knife.  What did you use as a finish?  I've had trouble with poly staying tacky for days after put on cocobola.

I used lacquer but it will have to come of to fix the scratch. Yep, cocobolo is awesome in person, get to see all the subtle colors.

Here is this one with the redone handle and a sheath. I went back after this pic and re-etched the blade with some light acid(lemon juice) which made the pattern stand out a bit more.

Skull, are those copper pins?  Whats size?  If so where did you find the stock?

skullworks

1/8" Copper. Jantz supply.
