Stan, Second weekend out. Passed on a spike in the mountains last weekend. Hunted around home today. Nice cool morning with a little mist. My scent was going straight down from my stand. At 7:35 this buck came in and was eating leaves from bushes around my stand. When I first saw him I thought he had a white spot on top of his head but it turned out to be a leaf. As he turned I sent a arrow through both lungs. He only went about 50 yards and I heard him go down. I gave him a half hour and went over to where I heard him fall. After I said my thanks the work started as I hunt in some nasty thick blow downs. My set up was a 58" Morrison Dakota 53 @ 27, homemade cedar arrow and a old bear green razorhead. The arrow broke off and I have to go look for the broadhead. Now I'm going to try and fill a doe tag with the selfbow. Hope everyone has a great season !

"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

nice buck Bob! Nothing like an opening morning deer. Now you'll get to have multiple big bucks right under you for the rest of the season.  ;)

Thanks for the story, told just like I like 'em, in one sitting

Really happy for you, hope all turns out well with the doe tag.  I've got one of them left as well, opens next weekend.  Take care,

Stan
