Earlier this year,a good friend`s son informed me he wanted to start bowhunting. I had started his dad bowhunting over 20 years ago and he had killed a deer his first time out. I loaned him an old Saxon longbow I had that was 68" long. He`s 6'3" tall with arms like a gorilla so it would be perfect. I taught him to shoot, took him about a week before he could out shoot me. Well he brought it all together tonight and made me proud. I put him in a stand in the corner of a field where deer enter the field. I dont have any kids and he`s about the closest thing to a son that I have, and I am proud of he`s acomplishment. I dont know who was the most excited, him or me. He had to give the stern look in the photo, wished he would of smiled. http://photobucket.com" target="_blank">http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x263/draco044/Travissdeer.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket">

X2 congrats!
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.

Grandfather, Great Spirit, Lean close to the Earth that you may hear the voice that I send. Give me the eyes to see and the strength to understand that I may be like you. With your power only can I face the winds. (the prayer of Black Elk)

Congrats on starting him off well-really like the expression of happiness, LOL!
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Now that is a fine buck for a first deer! Congrats for both of you. But it is OK to smile. LOL

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

Smiling is overrated in dead animal pics anyway lots of emotions at play; he looks like a killer to me! LOL!!
Congrats to you both.
