This morning I went out with friend who was hunting some puddle ducks over decoys in a cut corn field.  I had never hunted waterfowl before (even with a gun) and asked if I could tag along and bring my longbow.  He said he thought that I might have a pretty good chance at getting some fairly close shots- he was not kidding.
As soon as there was legal shooting light, Mallards started to come into the decoys.  On the very first group, I picked a bird out (no more than 10 yards) of a flock of about two dozen birds and let'r fly...  The drake folded and came crashing down within 20 yards of where I was laying.  I had passed a broadhead right through his neck.  (Just like I knew what I was doing... haha)
The fun continued, and all in all I ended up getting two mallards with four shots.  These are my first attempt at hunting any game with my longbow and it was one of the most exciting mornings of my life.  I think I'm hooked for life on both TRAD and waterfowling.

Seems you succeed on your first try as a general rule! Keep it up!
Your pic shows a verrry happy young man, as well it should. That was quite a feat.

Congrats, that's awesome! Wild duck is one of my favorite game animals to eat. Taste even better when shot with a bow, imho.  ;)  Enjoy!
