Virginia squirrel hunt logistics thread

Yeah Post up a new thread I am really interested in what happened.  Its -7 where i am right now and has only been getting to about 0. Too cold for hunting right now.

No squirrels were harmed during the making of Virginia Squirrel Hunt 2006; we all had a great time, though    Met a bunch of nice folks, ate to excess, and heard alot of great stories(and a few tall tales)    Can't wait to do it again.

Can't pull a bow right now, been outa commission for a few yrs. w/ shoulder problems but trying to work thru it here in the next few months......

Hey now! I lived in Bayview for a couple of years, and NOB Norfolk for a couple more.

Seagull Squat...harrumph! We had a couple folks at the hunt from your way. You coulda at least hung out and told hunting lies!

How could you possibly impugn the sobriety and good character of this merry band of archers?    
Actually, very few pictures were taken this year. In my case, I was too busy doing stuff and having fun to take much time photographizing.    

I just got home this afternoon, and have been unloading stuff, getting ready for work tomorrow and catching up on the activities here online. In between, I have been editing some meager image files created in the last two days.

Here you go, this is the way the hunt started. We are leaving the camp to go to the squirrel-grounds.

I do most of my huntin' up in the mountains around martinsville way ... LUV DEM MOUNTAINS!!!!

Joined another club over on the Eastern Shore this year for the convenience of it. That toll is a killer, but lots of deer there, and some purdy hefty ones too.

So anyway, although Tommy had gotten a new car,







I rode in Daryl's rumble seat instead as we made the short trek to the skwerl woods. The air was mildly cool and the sunshine purely golden as it trickled throught the pines on either side of the road. I closed my eyes and savored it, as well as the myriad missiles of bright yellow, high quality straw that launched themselves at me as the velocity rose and the related wind increased. Daryl had brought the backstops, and the evidence was to be had in plenty back here.    

Pines, pines, and more pines, then a slowing, a turn, and we entered the driveway to the killin' fields. Tommy stopped and unlocked the gate, drove a bit, and dropped off the first batch of hunters. A little further, and the next group, then the rest of us clambered out and headed into uh...more pines.

It was quiet stalking in the pines, but I was sure glad when we started to get into some oaks!! We split up some more, and at the first opportunity, I wandered off by my lonies. I like it like that.

It was a great time.  I'd pay money to listen to Jerry, Kathy, and Tom snipe across the dinner table.  Best comedy show on the road.

Stringcutter, that'd be my crockpot.  When the missus asked where it was I told here "oops, sorry."  She reminded me she wanted a new one...so please chunk that one.

I brought my camera but never turned it on.  I always manage to do things like that.  Had a great time though.

What part of Tidewater you in Bill?  I call Chesapeake home, or at least that's where I live.

Glad to see the youngun's involved in the great outdoors, don't have none myself but like to see the torch being passed vicariously through others.

Hopefully, they all escaped the wrath of Killdeer's pokin stick           .

Had to laugh at those car pics, my ole huntin truck ain't much purdier than that thing is     :eek:      

Clint, I'm in Norf. but closer to the Ches./ VB line, not too far from the intersection of Mil. Hwy & Indian River rd. Where bouts in Ches. are you?
