Well it finally happened tonight.I shot a doe opening day on some new land that I got permision to hunt.I started seeing a few scrapes the last few times I've been there,So yesterday my son and I hung a stand in a pine on one of the main trails coming down the mountain.I got in the stand today about 3pm and It was perfect the wind was right and I just had that feeling that something was going to happen.Theres a front moving in tonight and a few snowflakes in the air.At about 5.30 I start hearing grunting and then a doe running all around, then there he is coming right down the trail I see three on one side,We have to have three on one side in my dmp so I get ready he comes right in 10 yards in front of me I let go all I see is sparks fly my heart drops I shot right over him into some rocks.I'm surprised I din't burn him with all the sparks LOL.hE Go's about 20 yards and stops,I get another arrow out but he's behind so trees so I wait but the light is fading fast.He starts moving at a angle away from me I see one opening so at about 25yards I lock in and bear down and take the shot All I hear is crack and he takes off,by now its getting dark so I backed out to give him some time and get my buddy Bill.Well we go back out and find him he went about sixty yards Hit by last rib and angled up into the chest. Its a nice 8pt for this area and although I shot many deer with my compound this one one feels the best.I'll have pic's tomorrow,I used a black widow sa 53lbs at 26inch draw with a arrow dynamics trad-light 440 grains with a 125 mangus stinger 2 blade.....ED

Ed sure did shoot a nice deer. It's my fault he doesn't have pictures up yet. I just mailed some to him. You'll have to wait until after our morning hunt. Sure hope some of his luck is with us still this morning. He sure has had a great year so far!

Congratulations Ed !! ,, Great story ,, I now know all about the rocks you guys call home in the Catskills. Don't ever miss the target or a deer, only leads to bent tips. Can't wait to see your pics ,,All the best ,,Frank.

Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"
