Made it home this weekend and after 4 trips of DIY hunts on Colorado's public land, I finally brought down an elk with my longbow. This year we actually did a dropcamp in the San Juan area. I was blessed to have great teamwork with a friend and my 15 year old son.  It was actually my son who remained cool and cow called at the right times to bring him close to 20yards for the shot. Was really a fantastic moment as the bull came bugling in with the wind holding perfect! Here are some pics with our elk and my son Zach. Thought you might enjoy.

What a super memory for you and your son!

Awesome Chris.  I can't think of how it could be any better than to accomplish that with your son's help.  Simply awesome.

What a rush! My best friend and his buddy have gone the last four years with only some very close calls.  I'm really thinking of joining them next year. I'm not getting any younger and out of state tags are not getting any cheaper.
Congratulations. Mike
