Thought I post a brief build along, I know I get something from every build along posted and its fun to see how every one
else is doing it   :)

Most of what I do here with the BBO is from Dean Torges video "Hunting the Bamboo backed Bow" I highly recommend  it.
I have already started on the bow and will post pics. on my site as I go.

Looking good.... I might have just missed it but how thick do you make your Osage  when you start and do you taper it at all....Terry

I just received a nice osage slat from Murray Gaskins and I'm about ready to try and make my first BBO ala Torges directions in his tape. I do have a question about tapering. I understand the part about tapering the bamboo. But I'm unclear on tapering the osage slat prior to glue up. Should I taper the slat on the glue line side and then reserve the tapering on the belly side for tillering step? Hope that makes sense.

Thanks,
Steve

kcdaniels

Steve,That makes perfect sense to me LOL. I taper on the belly side,Measure out about 1/2" from the end of handle area, where the fade ends. this way you still have a flat back and a flat area where you will glue up your handle on the belly side.

Hope that made sense LOL

KC and John, thanks for the tapering info. That part has always been a little confusing to me. Thanks for the great pics too KC, they are really helpful.

Many Thanks
