I'm going to africa  this fall and hoping to tag a nyala and kudu. If money wasn't an issue, my dream animal would be a sable. What animals would be on your wish list?

calgarychef

Anything that gets in front of my arrow.  I think bowhunters shoulnd't have a "list." I'd love to get a giraff, or a zebra though.  Had a chance at a Nyala but I just let it walk away and it was a nice one too, I guess I didn't realize what a prize they are.  A free ranging non baited cape buffalo would be wonderful but beyond most trad hunters.

Kudu have always been a dream of mine but a gemsbuck is what I'm going to try for.

I think I like calgarychefs idea of not having a list......Lets see what happens.

All I can say is I can't wait.

Ive been there three times.  All three times I had a list, and all three times it changed while there.  Having a list kinda takes the fun out of it in my opinion. You will see LOTS of animals so don't fret.  One animal I originally had no interest in hunting was Red Heartebeast.  That is untill I actually saw one in the wild.  Then I spent 3 days hunting them specifically, before I got one.  I could go to Africa and hunt nothing but warthogs and have a ball.

Hope to get a Nyala. A nice Warthog would be nice and maybe a Bush Pig...... Then again if the right Wildebeest comes in, Hmmmmmm or maybe a Zebra??? A Bushbuck would be cool and there could be a Kudu or Giraffe...  then Red Hartebeest has a face only a mother could love. I've seen some really nice Springbuck in SA....   Zzzzzzzzzzzzz  Dang was that my alarm clock   ;)

Three days and counting  :)

I've got pictures of small bushpigs sleeping in my bed, cutest most fun little buggers you could imagine.  But the big ones sure are ugly so I might be able to run one through.  I agree hunting nothing but warthogs would be fun too.  And impala....such a beautiful animal and tasty to boot!  Stalking and geetting an impala would be a heck of an accomplishment.

I remember that thread and your pictures... great read !!

Coaster you have a good memory!  That thread was a long time ago.

I could hunt wildebeest and warthogs all day long.  Would like to get a black wildebeest next time.  But I agree, your list can change in 2 seconds when something walks up.  Just have fun

My first trip is 2.5 months away. I'm after warthog, blue wildebeast, and impala. I'm hoping for a Kudu or gemsbock. I have only 5-7 days to hunt.

Horne Shooter

I'm heading out on my third trip to Africa in September.  This time it will be Free Range Cape Buffalo in Mozambique.  The money part hurts but I wanted to do this hunt before I get much older.  As far as plains game, I've never killed a Zebra and have really tried hard but no luck as of yet.

I can see why many don't want to try a first hunt in Africa...but, I'll never understand someone who doesn't want to go back! (HECK, I never HEARD of anyone who didn't want to go back!)

My return trip will be in July.  Dreaming of an Nyala, and that BIG Kudu, and who knows what else?!

I made a mistake passing up two different BIG Waterbuck the first time around, and have regretted it ever since.  Just as others have said here, don't make any hard and fast rules....it's all pretty exciting stuff! Just do it!

Coaster,    :campfire:  don't want to rush your trip but I'm looking forward to pictures when you get back.

Congrats on the animals so far .

I don't think I want to find any "cute" little bushpigs in my bed.
